one minute vacations, I found a minute in some tape I recorded on April 6, 2002, in the Diktion cave near the village of Psychro on the Grecian island of Crete.
According to local stories, this is the cave where Zeus was hidden by his mother, Rea, so he wouldn't be eaten by Kronos. It's a drippy cave filled with stalagmites and stalactites looking over the Lassithi plateau. The plateau is an indentation in a ring of mountains, covered in fields and thousands of windmills. From the cave's entrance, it looks like a green patchwork quilt. I recorded this minute as I was walking up the stairs out of the cave. The cave is very moist, so the footsteps sound wet, and there were birds roosting in the bushes and trees at the entrance.
